Lithograph

Hiraeth is the Welsh word for a feeling of longing or nostalgia. This lithograph is of Pont Hafren which is the older bridge that spans the Severn Estuary to connect South Wales and England. At night, the bridge with its lights and the glow of cars driving across can seem to float above the dark waters, with the twinkling lights on the far shore welcoming travellers home.

This lithograph is a small variable edition of 5. It has been hand printed with Intaglio relief ink, and then painted and inked with Winsor & Newton colour and silver and gold inks. Prints 1 and 2 have torn edges, and on 3, 4 and 5 I have left the edges wide as I liked the mark making that spread over the edges of the print. These can also be hidden by a window mount if preferred. This print is number 1 of 5 and the paper is torn to the edge of the image.

The prints are all listed separately as they are each slightly different. Print No.5 has been sold.

Based on an original photograph by Lawrie Barton.

Size: 38 x 28 cm (unframed) / 29 x 20 cm (actual image size)
