Blue Side

This monotype is one in a series of abstract images printed on delicate Hosho Select Awagami Washi paper.

When I have finished printing I am often fascinated by the marks of ink left on my worktop, they are sometimes just too interesting to wipe away. This print is made by placing paper over these marks and using a baren to apply pressure to lift the ink onto the paper. I will sometimes do this over several days and several different inkings to create a layered result.

Please note that this Japanese paper is handmade and very delicate in nature with a slight translucency. There may be crease marks from printing process. Although I try to maintain colour accuracy when photographing work, due to different screen settings on devices there may be slight variations.
