A Further Reach (Study Plate)
Lithograph, based on the rowers that practice and race on the stretch of the Thames where I live.
This is a study plate made for a small variable edition of 5 prints based on a series of works featuring rowers. As this is a study it is non-edition, which is reflected in the price, and has experimental inkings and mark-making as I was exploring ideas on how to make the print.
It has been printed with oil-based relief ink and scratched with a drypoint tool.
Once a print run is finished the plate itself is a reversed image of the prints. It often has marks and textures resulting from the printmaking process, which I particularly like as it adds to the depth of the image. Polyester litho is a thin paper-like plate with a coating on one side that resembles a stone surface and which can be printed from using relief ink.
This work comes backed and presented in a window mount. Please note that the image itself is 22x22cm (in mount 32x32cm)
